Portfolio Manager - Equity

Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel Ltd. is an independent, employee-owned firm with a long-term, fundamental investment philosophy. With our headquarters in Vancouver and offices in Calgary, Toronto and Montreal, we manage over $30 billion of assets on behalf of pension, foundation, corporate, Aboriginal, and individual clients across Canada with a strong emphasis on disciplined research, risk management, and collaborative decision-making.

We are seeking a Registered Portfolio Manager to join our Equity team. This investment role is suited to an experienced generalist with deep fundamental research capabilities and a proven track record contributing to portfolio construction and security selection.

The role will primarily support the Global Equity strategy (approximately 75%), with additional responsibility for U.S. Small & Mid-Cap Equity (approximately 25%). The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Global Equity and other portfolio managers, contributing meaningfully to idea generation, research depth, and ongoing portfolio management.

We are committed to providing equal opportunities in employment and to providing a workplace which is free from discrimination and harassment. This means that all job applicants and employees will receive equal treatment regardless of race, color, ethnic or national origins, sex, marital status, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, or belief.

    • Work closely with other members of the Global Equity team to share insights, debate investment ideas, and strengthen overall research quality
    • Participate in investment committee discussions and internal research forums
    • Support client-facing activities as needed, including preparation of investment commentary and participation in client meetings or presentations

Job Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years of relevant investment experience in equity research and/or portfolio management, preferably within a buy-side environment
  • Registered Portfolio Manager designation (or eligibility to register)
  • CFA designation
  • Demonstrated experience covering global equities and/or U.S. small and mid-cap stocks
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to think independently while operating effectively in a team-oriented investment culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity, integrity, and alignment with a long-term investment mindset

What We Offer:

  • Meaningful investment responsibility within a collaborative team
