Trade Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated Trade Operations Specialist to join our Operations team. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about financial services and possesses strong experience in securities settlements and investment management back-office operations.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing, settlement, and reconciliation of investment transactions across multiple asset classes. The role requires strong analytical skills, a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with brokers, custodians, trust companies, traders, and internal stakeholders.

Job Description:

  • Process, post, and settle investment transactions across Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives in an accurate and timely manner 
  • Communicate trade details, settlement instructions, and exception resolutions with brokers, custodians, and trust companies 
  • Investigate and resolve trade breaks, settlement discrepancies, and operational issues efficiently 
  • Support daily operational controls and contribute to process improvement initiatives 
  • Assist with operational, systems, and business enhancement projects as required 
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized records, documentation, and operational files 
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, administrators, and external counterparties to ensure smooth operational workflows 
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of security master information, including: 
    • Equity pricing 
    • Dividends and corporate actions 
    • Interest accruals and payments 
    • Mortgage-backed securities (MBS) payments 
    • Futures contracts 
    • Foreign exchange rates and related market data

  • Competitive Compensation Package: Salary range of $60,000 - $65,000 per annum, with flexibility for exceptional candidates with highly relevant experience. Compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity; includes RRSP contribution, extended health benefits from day of joining (no waiting period), and three weeks’ vacation, annually.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in securities settlements, trade operations, or investment operations within an asset management, investment management, or financial services environment
  • Solid understanding of settlement processes across Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is considered a strong asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with brokers, custodians, trust company personnel, traders, and internal stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
