Application and Production Support Analyst

Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel Ltd. is an independent, employee-owned, Vancouver-based investment counsel managing approximately $20 billion in assets on behalf of pension, foundation, First Nations, corporate and individual clients across Canada.

Job Description:

Your future duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Enhance the existing systems by implementing upgrades, new features, and custom development.
  • Support the day to day management/troubleshooting/fault isolation process for application problems within a high availability 7/24 operational basis.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the application owners.
  • Create and improve processes to manage all application incidents.
  • Management of status and service level objective reports.
  • Providing team feedback and developing action plans to remediate issues, identifying processes and skills required for continuous improvements in knowledge.
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities in partnership with managing leaders.
  • Managing multiple testing environments (UAT, Development, Pre-Prod) and other related support deployment activities, including managing implementation issues to resolution.
  • Deploys automated code to production.

Job Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years + of related experience in application/production support role.
  • Education: College/Degree in Computer Science or other related IT discipline. Recent technical certifications preferred.

Technical Requirements:

  • Expertise in writing and running SQL queries.
  • Expertise in programming languages: Python, Perl script, SQL.
  • Experience with XML and JSON based web services.
  • Strong ability to process and analyze logs.
  • Experience using code tracking and release tools such as JIRA.
  • Operating Systems: 98% Window, 2% Linux.
  • Some experience with Unix/ Linux commands.
  • Strong automation experience would be helpful.

Other attributes and requirements:

  • Intermediate experience in the investment or financial services industry.
  • Experience with trading systems, Fidessa Latent Zero is an asset.
  • Experience with portfolio accounting systems, SS&C Advent APX is an asset.
  • Experience and comfort with overseeing the redesign and implementation of changes in workflows and technology platforms.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.

  • Willing to improve skill set through on-going technical training.
  • Willing and eager to learn in different business and technology domains.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to manage through difficult situations, including communication to stakeholders and upper management.
