Bilingual Associate Portfolio Manager

Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel Ltd. is an employee-owned firm, headquartered in Vancouver with offices in Calgary, Montreal (2H 2025), and Toronto. We manage over $30 billion of assets on behalf of pension, foundation, corporate, Aboriginal, and individual clients across Canada.

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented bilingual (English/French) investment professional to join our new Montreal office at the Associate Portfolio Manager level. The ideal candidate will have an approved AAR registration and will play a key role in managing client portfolios, participating in business development initiatives, and serving as a trusted advisor to high net-worth and institutional clients.

This is a client-facing role with significant exposure to product development, portfolio management, research, and firm leadership.

Job Description:

  • Help build out the office and the firm’s presence in Eastern Canada.
  • Manage and monitor investment portfolios in alignment with client objectives, firm guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth portfolio reviews, performance analysis, and asset allocation recommendations.
  • Actively participate in business development, including identifying prospects, attending networking events, and supporting client acquisition strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver bilingual presentations, proposals, and investment reviews to clients, consultants, and prospects.
  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with existing clients and consultants by providing exceptional service and proactive communication.
  • Conduct market, sector, and security-level research to support investment recommendations.
  • Collaborate with research, compliance, and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate execution of investment strategies.
  • Stay current on market trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes affecting client portfolios.

Job Qualifications:

  • 8-12 years of progressive client relationship experience, with an interest in business development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or related field.
  • CFA designation.
  • At least AAR registration with AR aspirations. The firm encourages and supports professionals in their endeavor towards attaining AR and internally progressing to Portfolio Manager.
  • Deep understanding of investment products, portfolio construction, and capital markets.
  • Fluency in English and French (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and investment analytics tools.
  • Experience with CRM and portfolio management systems.
