Bio
Jim joined Leith Wheeler in 2009. In addition to his roles as the firm's President & CEO and Head of Fixed Income, he chairs the firm's Executive and Portfolio Review Committees and sits on the Board of Directors.
Jim brought extensive investment experience in Canadian and U.S. fixed income markets to Leith Wheeler from his time at HSBC Asset Management/M.K. Wong & Associates in Vancouver (1993-2001) and Barclays Global Investors (BGI) in San Francisco (2002-2009). Over his career, Jim has built and managed teams and launched funds covering interest rate strategies, corporate credit, securitized credit, and emerging markets. He has also launched and managed a successful fixed income hedge fund, developed risk management platforms, and created customized client and liability-driven solutions.
Jim graduated with honors from the University of British Columbia (B.Comm) and earned his Master's degree in Financial Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charterholder.
Jim has served as the past Chair for the Faculty Advisory Board for the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia and on the Steering Committee for the Masters of Financial Engineering Program at the University of California, Berkeley. He currently chairs the Board of Trustees for the Fraser Valley Elementary School Society.
