Jim joined Leith Wheeler in 2009, bringing extensive investment experience in Canadian and U.S. fixed income markets from his time at HSBC Asset Management/M.K. Wong & Associates in Vancouver (1993-2001) and Barclays Global Investors (BGI) in San Francisco (2002-2009). During his career, Jim has built and managed teams covering interest rate strategies, corporate credit, securitized credit, and emerging markets. He has also launched and managed a successful fixed income hedge fund, developed risk management platforms, and created customized client and liability-driven solutions. At Leith Wheeler, Jim leads the bond team, chairs the Portfolio Review Committee, and sits on the company's Board of Directors.
Jim graduated with honors from the University of British Columbia (B.Comm) and later earned his Master's degree in Financial Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charterholder.
In addition to his professional roles, Jim has served as the past Chair for the Faculty Advisory Board for the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. He also chairs the Board of Trustees for the Fraser Valley Elementary School Society and serves on the Steering Committee for the Masters of Financial Engineering Program at the University of California, Berkeley.
